The fourth and last release in Halina Rice’s New Worlds project is titled Sunken Suns. The track is a rich composition with strong bass and synth sounds. The cover artwork is a minimal interpretation of a planetary system. Five spheres/planets arranged in an octahedral lattice are dissolving into space. This was accomplished in TouchDesigner with point clouds and particle physics. The trail of particles is also audio-reactive and responds to the heavy bass kicks in the track.
Similar to the previous releases, Sunken Suns also had an accompanying creative portrait of Halina Rice. In this iteration, Halina’s face was scanned using the iPhone’s LiDAR sensor. The resulting point cloud data was used to apply similar particle effects as the cover art.
