Terrain is the second track in the New Worlds project by Halina Rice. The animated cover features repeating triangular shapes that form a morphing terrain. The erratic movement of the figures compliments the relatively up-tempo track. This cover artwork was created procedurally using NodeBox, a node-based creative coding environment. The code could generate thousands of configurations of the same triangular shapes.
The track release was also accompanied by a creative portrait of Halina Rice. The original portrait was shot by Michael Robert Williams, a celebrity and music photographer. The image was then pushed through a program built with Processing that shreds the pixels into rows and morphs them, producing a glitched effect. The image was used in press releases and other marketing material across the web.
